1969 when a group of students
headed by Teodoro Pascual established the Alpha Sigma Fraternity and Zeta Sigma Sorority in Central Luzon State
University, Science City of Muņoz Nueva Ecija Philippines. At that year, Alpha Sigma known as the "Association of Scholars"
(AS) due to all of the members is scholars. Teodoro Pascual an Alpha Sigma batch 1967 – B in Mapua Institute Technology
founded the organization with a principle of Knowledge, Service, Leadership & Power. It
is designed to bring together mutual guidance and understanding to a group impelled non-political, non-racial, non-sectarian
motives to make them better individuals and students of CLSU and the country as a whole.
Until 1972, when Martial
Law was declared by Pres. Ferdinand Marcos, all existing Student Organization and the Supreme Student Council was banned but
Alpha Sigma continues to work underground then “ALAY SA SAMBAYANAN” was found. During this year, the Fraternity
declared as the year of austerity. All-important documents including secret codes and constitution and by Laws was burned
to protect the members and officers of the Fraternity.
The father of Bro. Julius
Viray Jr. went to Colorado
(University of Colorado, Denver) to continue his studies. While he was in the said University, he found out that the
Alpha Sigma Fraternity was also existing in that school. Julius Viray Jr. made a letter to the Alpha Sigma based in University of Colorado
with a positive result. Alpha Sigma CLSU became affiliated and grants a membership to the Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) Educational
Group of Greek Letter Organization. Alpha Sigma CLSU is Council #79 of Phi Delta Kappa.
1982, the creed Knowledge,
Service, Leadership and Power was changed into U.P. creed Truth, Reason and Justice. In addition, the Sorority Zeta Sigma
was changed to Sigma Alpha Sorority. Also during this year, the Coat of Arms was used. Rodolfo Bagtilay and Francisco Collado
designed the Coat of Arms.
At present, the Alpha Sigma
Fraternity / Sigma Alpha Sorority are located in front of CLSU Elementary Department. Maintaining the Integrity of being a
true Blooded Sigman / Alphan.
